Is the Zerex G-05 identical to the Mercedes branded coolant? Earlier this year there was a rebate on the purchase of the Zerex G-05. If these places don't carry the product, please just ask them to order it for you. Other options include Napa, Auto Zone, Advance, O'Reilly's, & Pep Boys. Our biggest supplier for the product is Carquest Auto Parts. ZEREX: Yes, the Zerex G-05 is the approved coolant for the Mercedez Benz application. ME: Is Zerex G-05 identical to the Mercedes branded coolant that I would buy at a dealership? Also, since it seems like AutoZone no longer carries Zerex G-05, where can I find it in my area? The Zerex G-05 and the Mercedes coolant apparently are not identical, but probably close enough for government work. I had an e-mail exchange with the tech folks at Valvoline that I thought some of you might be interested in reading. Here's a post I just made yesterday on another forum. Again, its a personal decision but I have been treated well by M/B and have not felt I was being price gouged over the long haul.įrom the horse's mouth - MB coolant and Zerex ARE NOT IDENTICAL. I only buy M/B batteries for example because they are cheaper and have a better guarantee than DieHard or any of the other equivalent suppliers. Many times I find M/B prices to be CHEAPER than the price for an equivalent part from the aftermarket. I have found however that there is a give and take when it comes to buying OEM. The decision to buy OEM is a personal one and I agree that maintaining one's vehicle is an extremely personal decision so far be it from me to criticise someone for their decision. I don't buy my cars new and never have bought one from a dealer, yet this dealer (Rallye Motors) takes care of me and passes a discount to me because I have been a loyal customer. Regarding the difference in price, my dealer just sold me two gallons for $13.50 apiece. If that stuff is premixed they have some nasty water in Montvale, NJ Keep the cooling system full and check concentration or freeze point regularly.Click to expand.+1 I just refilled using it. Valvoline recommends filling and always topping off ZEREX HD Nitrite Free ELC. Applications requiring a water filter should use blank filters (without SCA/DCA) and follow engine manufacturers filter change guidelines. However, long life characteristics may be diminished by mixing with light duty or conventional fully formulated coolants. ZEREX HD Nitrite Free ELC is compatible with major long life and conventional brands of ethylene glycol-based coolant. A 50% to 70% concentration range is suggested for optimum performance. ZEREX HD Nitrite Free ELC offers enhanced protection for aluminum cooling system components. It is backward compatible for all cooling systems using OAT coolants. ZEREX HD Nitrite Free ELC provides up to 6 years / 600,000 miles / 12,000 hours of service without the need for extenders due to non-depleting organic acid technology. ZEREX HD Nitrite Free ELC can also be used in gasoline engines, stationary power, marine, natural gas and light duty applications. The silicate and nitrite free extended life chemistry protects all cooling system metals from corrosion including aluminum. Valvoline ZEREX Heavy Duty Nitrite Free Extended Life Antifreeze Coolant incorporates organic acid technology to protect diesel engines from liner pitting and hard water scale deposits.
